Philips Hue Sync finally on LG televisions – but there’s a catch

If you love playing around with smart lighting, including Ambilight lighting, we have great news for you: the Philips Hue Sync app has just arrived on 2024 LG TVs. Previously, this app was only available on Samsung TVs, but now LG TV users can also enjoy syncing their lights with what's happening on the screen.

Unfortunately, like any solution of this kind, it comes with costs. The application is not free – purchasing it means an additional expense - either one-off or in the form of a subscription. On top of that, you need to consider the cost of original Philips Hue bulbs or lamps, which range from several hundred to even a few thousand zlotys.

Nevertheless, the application has a significant advantage over the already well-known Philips Hue Sync Box device – it can handle internal sources of image, such as built-in applications, rather than just external signals provided through an HDMI cable.

How to connect Philips Hue smart lighting to an LG TV?

Unfortunately, there's another catch. The app is only appearing on models from 2024 (and newer). If you have an older LG TV and were hoping for an update, you’ll be disappointed (at least for now). At this point, there are no official announcements about Hue Sync being made available for previous models. If anything changes, we’ll definitely let you know! However, everything suggests that Philips TVs (TPV) will have an even tougher time in the coming years.
