Apple is once again considering creating its own television, returning to the concept the company had in the early 2000s. At that time, work on the television was underway, and Steve Jobs himself confirmed the plans in his 2011 biography. Nevertheless, the OLED television project was put on the shelf – Apple focused on Apple TV set-top boxes with the tvOS system and the integration of AirPlay and the Apple TV app with devices from other manufacturers.
According to the latest information from Bloomberg, Apple is once again looking at the television market as part of a broader strategy for smart home devices. The company plans to first introduce a smart display – a kind of tablet with Siri and AI features, which could become the central element of home management. If this idea proves successful, it is possible that Apple will eventually decide to create its own television.
For now, Apple offers Apple TV 4K, which is a set-top box for televisions that allows users to access the Apple ecosystem on a large screen by simply connecting it via HDMI.
