Samsung Display has announced ambitious plans to introduce a new 27-inch QD-OLED panel with a QHD resolution (2560x1440) and an impressive refresh rate of 500 Hz. The project is currently in the final development phase, and the first monitors based on this technology are expected to hit the market in the first half of 2025, thanks to collaboration with leading hardware manufacturers.
The current generations of 27-inch monitors QD-OLED and WOLED offer a maximum resolution of QHD, but significant improvements are planned for 2025. One of the first such products is expected to be a monitor from the Chinese brand Light Soul, which will offer a 27-inch QD-OLED screen with a resolution of 4K (3840x2160), a refresh rate of 240 Hz, and peak brightness of 1000 nits. This panel is expected to be used in products from other brands as well, which could mean greater availability of this technology.
Previously, we informed about the monitor LG UltraGear OLED GX7, which offers a refresh rate of 480 Hz and 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Now LG Display plans to introduce a 45-inch ultrawide WOLED panel with a higher resolution, which could further raise the standards in the premium monitor segment. The new panels are expected to meet the expectations of both gamers and professionals, offering better image quality and advanced refresh rate capabilities.
