At CES 2025 Hisense presented two gigantic TV models that immediately caught our attention. We're talking about a 116-inch RGB miniLED LCD (116UX) and a 136-inch microLED. Both models aim to show that the Chinese manufacturer is ready to compete with the biggest players in the market, such as Samsung and LG. But will these announcements translate into actual results and, more importantly, will the price not be astronomical?
116-inch Hisense 116UX – giant with TriChroma LED
The TriChroma LED technology that this television is based on relies on advanced RGB miniLED backlighting. Hisense promises a brightness level of an astronomical 10,000 nits and huge coverage of 97% of the BT.2020 color space. If these values are reflected in real-world tests, we will be dealing with one of the brightest televisions on the market.
Hisense boasts about "tens of thousands of RGB LED optical lenses." What does this mean in practice? More precise backlighting, deeper blacks, and better control over the brightness of individual parts of the image. It sounds promising, but will we actually see this quality with our own eyes? We'll find out when the television arrives at the editorial office for a full test.
Additionally, the model is equipped with a 6.2.2 CineStage X sound system and support for Dolby Vision IQ and IMAX Enhanced formats. We can expect home cinema in the full sense of the word.
136-inch microLED – a dream TV or just a showcase of possibilities?
MicroLED has long been regarded as the technology of the future, but until now, the prices of these televisions have been absurdly high, and their sizes have limited accessibility for the average user. Hisense wants to change this with its 136-inch microLED model.
The TV is said to offer excellent blacks, high brightness, and unprecedented color precision. If the manufacturer can deliver on these promises in practice, it could be a breakthrough. However, the true test will be the price and availability of this model. Will it be a product only for the wealthiest, or will Hisense try to make microLED more accessible?
Chinese Giants at the Forefront of the Ultra-Large TV Market
Hisense has also boasted that it is currently the leader in the American market for TVs with a diagonal of 87 inches and larger. This is no small feat, especially considering the dominance of Korean brands in this segment.
Chinese manufacturers, such as Hisense and TCL, have been systematically increasing their presence in the premium market for several years, offering equipment with very competitive specifications at more accessible prices. Will this also apply to the new models presented at CES? Hisense has shown that it has the ambition and technological capabilities to compete with the giants of the market. The 116UX TVs and the 136-inch microLED undoubtedly promise to be impressive constructions. We are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to test these models live.
