Before the official premiere at the upcoming CES trade fair, the LG G5 received certification confirming support for 165 Hz at 4K resolution. This model, along with its successor C4, the LG C5, has been approved for sale in South Korea according to the database of the local Institute of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Testing. This confirms that LG will continue to stick to the existing naming for these series.
The certificate confirming the 165 Hz support was issued by the VESA institution, which also issues the ClearMR certificate confirming motion clarity, which we mentioned in the context of the LG GX7 premiere.
There is no information provided about the C5 model, so we do not know if LG will only introduce 165 Hz refresh rate for its flagship model. However, the mention of a value of 10000 in ClearMR is interesting, where previous models had this result at a maximum level of 9000. This shows a certain breakthrough in the OLED panel used in the G5 model.
The appearance of the latest televisions has not changed drastically either. In the picture below, on the left side we see the LG C5, and on the right, the LG G5. At first glance, the use of a different anti-reflection technology is visible, which may be related to the use of an MLA panel. It is unknown whether the C5 model will receive displays with micro lenses, but let's hope LG pleasantly surprises us next year. The televisions will be officially presented at the CES trade show in early January, and then we will learn all the information we are interested in.
