In 2024, the OLED monitor market is experiencing a significant leap forward. Forecasts indicate that sales of these monitors will reach as much as 1.44 million units, representing an impressive increase of 181% compared to the previous year. It seems that more and more of us are interested in the image quality offered by OLED screens – with their infinite contrast, deep blacks, and excellent colors.
At the forefront of this trend is Samsung, which has dominated the OLED monitor market with its QD-OLED panels, particularly in larger sizes such as 49-inch models. It is these products that drive sales, and Samsung solidifies its position as a leader. However, it is not alone – right behind it are other manufacturers such as LG, Asus, Dell, MSI, and Gigabyte. Companies such as Acer, AOC, HP, and Sony have also recently entered the world of OLED monitors, trying to capture a piece of this growing market.
Currently, there are two main technologies on the market: OLED – QD-OLED from Samsung and WOLED from LG. Although the company JOLED, responsible for RGB OLED panels, declared bankruptcy this year, there is hope for their return thanks to TCL, which we recently wrote about - here. In 2024, Samsung is reportedly set to significantly increase its market share with its QD-OLEDs, reaching up to 73% of the OLED monitor sales market. Meanwhile, the share of WOLED panels will drop to 26%, and RGB OLED will account for only 1%
Why is it so important? Monitors OLED are a completely different level of image quality. Deep blacks, great contrast, and vivid colors make them perfect for both work (apart from some minor font issues) and gaming. It looks like 2024 is the year when OLEDs become more accessible, and we can choose from increasingly interesting models. This is an exciting time for those who want to take image quality to a whole new level.
