If you’re considering a new TV for 2025, Philips has something in store that may catch your attention. The company has announced the release of two miniLED LCD TV lines: the MLED910 and MLED950. In addition, there will be more affordable models with quantum dots and new Titan OS features that promise to make a difference in everyday use.
MiniLED enters the stage
The MLED910 will debut in May in sizes ranging from 55 to 85 inches, while the MLED950 will join the lineup in September, offered in 65 and 75-inch versions. Both TVs boast 144Hz LCD panels and 4K resolution, but they differ in peak brightness and color gamut. The MLED950 hits 1200 nits and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, while the MLED910 offers 1000 nits and 93% coverage. In short, both models are designed not only to look impressive but also to handle demanding HDR content with ease.
Ambilight Plus – taking mood lighting to the next level
What sets the MLED950 apart is Ambilight Plus, a more advanced version of Philips’ well-known ambient lighting system. Philips claims that the new lenses and LEDs will deliver an even more immersive effect. If you’ve thought of Ambilight as a gimmick until now, this new version might change your mind – it aims to more precisely match colors and lighting effects to the on-screen content.
Not just miniLED – ‘The One’ gets an update
Beyond miniLED, Philips will also showcase mid-range models, including the PUS9000. Known as “The One,” these TVs also deliver 4K, 144Hz, and the Titan OS, but with conventional LED backlighting. They’re a solid choice for those looking for good picture quality at a reasonable price, without needing top-tier brightness or advanced Ambilight features.
Titan OS 2.0 – more than just a new interface
Philips went all-in by updating its Titan OS. The latest version promises a faster, more intuitive experience. It introduces the new Game Bar 2.0 with access to Blacknut and Boosteroid cloud gaming, as well as the Moments app, which makes it easy to transfer photos from your phone to the TV and enhance them with templates, audio, transitions, and filters. Notably, Titan OS models now have four HDMI 2.1 ports, something gamers will surely appreciate.
Is it worth the wait?
While Philips is strongly emphasizing miniLED, their OLEDs continue to set the standard for top-tier picture quality, especially in peak brightness. However, for those looking for a more affordable option, the upcoming LCD models – both miniLED and the lower-cost versions – could be a great alternative. Plus, the enhanced Titan OS offers not just improved navigation but also new features like cloud gaming and effortless media management.
