Just a month after the presentations by Panasonic and LG Display at CES 2025, Philips announced the introduction of televisions with four-layer WOLED panels. The flagship series – OLED950 and OLED910 – aims to compete with the latest designs from competitors, offering record brightness and a new take on the iconic Ambilight.
Like LG and Panasonic, Philips has opted for WOLED panels with four layers emitting light (the so-called Primary RGB Tandem or Meta 3.0). According to the manufacturer, this structure allows achieving up to 3700 nits of peak brightness and 350 nits at full screen, while simultaneously reducing power consumption by 20%. The new panel is also expected to cover 83% of the Rec.2020 color space and block 99% of light reflections thanks to an ultra-thin filter.
It is worth noting that – similarly to the announcement by LG Display (4000 nits) – these values refer to "peak" modes, not cinematic calibration. We do not expect televisions to reach 3700 nits in calibrated mode due to the lower color temperature. Final results will be known after testing.
Ambilight 4.0 and a processor that adapts to content
Flagship models stand out with 4-sided Ambilight and the P5 AI Gen9 Dual processor. Philips emphasizes that the new chipset offers, among other things:
Adaptive Intelligence – automatic analysis of content type (HDR, SDR, game),
Specular Highlight Enhancement – boosting brightness at key HDR moments,
AI Adaptive Gamut Enhancer – increasing color saturation in SDR materials without distorting skin tones,
Game Bar with the ability to customize the game interface (moving the minimap, adjusting transparency).

The OLED950 is equipped with a 2.1 audio system (70 W) with passive bass radiators, while the OLED910 works with Bowers & Wilkins 3.1 (81 W). Interestingly, in the photos provided by Philips, the distinctive fabric "bar" from Bowers & Wilkins is not visible, has Philips given up on the characteristic integrated bar? Time will tell. Both models operate on Google TV with Android 14.
OLED810 and OLED760 – a cheaper alternative with older panels
For less demanding users, Philips has prepared the models OLED810 and OLED760 with OLED EX panels (brightness up to 1500 and 1000 nits). Although they maintain 3-sided Ambilight, they use older processors (P5 Gen9 in OLED810 and P5 Gen7 in OLED760) with limited AI functions. An interesting feature is Titan OS in OLED760, which is set to offer access to cloud gaming platforms Blacknut and Boosteroid and four HDMI 2.1 ports.
Will 2025 be the year of 4-layer OLEDs?
Philips's announcement confirms the trend initiated at CES 2025: manufacturers are focusing on brightness and energy efficiency, simultaneously abandoning micro-lens array (MLA) technology. Proprietary features also play a key role – such as Ambilight or advanced gaming modes – which aim to distinguish individual brands. More details will be revealed after the presentation of the Moments application at Philips's official event in Barcelona.
