Samsung has prepared two new soundbars for 2025: the advanced HW-Q990F and the more versatile HW-Q700F. Both models were presented at CES 2025, but it is now that we have learned more details. Without unnecessary slogans, let's take a closer look at what they really have to offer.
HW-Q990F – a powerful set with a smaller but stronger subwoofer
The model HW-Q990F replaces the HW-Q990D from last year. It is still an 11.1.4 setup, consisting of a soundbar, subwoofer, and two rear speakers. This time, the biggest change is the subwoofer – smaller, more compact, but at the same time more powerful. Thanks to two 8-inch speakers, it generates as much as 300 W of power (last year's Q990D had only one 8-inch speaker in the subwoofer). The compact design is a big plus, especially if the equipment is to be placed in smaller rooms.
In terms of sound, Samsung has introduced a few improvements. The Active Voice Amplifier Pro enhances the clarity of dialogues by eliminating background noise, and the Dynamic Bass Control broadens the bass range, which supposedly helps avoid certain distortions. Additionally, there is the Q-Symphony Pro technology that synchronizes the soundbar with the television speakers, increasing the spatiality of sound and further improving the clarity of dialogues. There is also a new format called Eclipsa Audio, but it is currently difficult to assess whether it will be better than the well-known Dolby Atmos.
HW-Q700F – flexibility in a modern form
HW-Q700F is an interesting new addition to Samsung's offering – the first “convertible” soundbar. It can be placed in front of the TV, on a table, or mounted on the wall. Thanks to the built-in gyroscope, it automatically adjusts the sound according to the position in which it is set. We get a 3.2.1 system that is supposed to perform well in any configuration. In terms of design, the HW-Q700F resembles the earlier NW700 series, which was praised for its minimalist style. It's a classic from Samsung – a simple, aesthetic device that fits most interiors.
When and for how much?
The new soundbars are set to go on sale later this year, likely in the spring. Prices remain unknown, but traditionally we can expect some cheaper models to complement the offer. In summary: HW-Q990F is the choice for those looking for the maximum audio capabilities, while HW-Q700F is a more flexible solution for those who value convenience and simplicity. Without big words – it looks solid, and time will tell if these models will indeed meet user expectations and adequately replace last year's quite popular line of soundbars.
