TCL plans to introduce a new LCD panel called 'HVA Pro', which offers a wider color range and reduced light reflections. This panel expands the color range to 88% coverage of Rec.2020 and reduces the reflection coefficient to 2%. Additionally, it features ultra-thin bezels with a thickness of 2.9 mm (except for the bottom edge). A prototype with a diagonal of 98 inches was presented at CES 2025, and its market launch is planned for 2026 or late 2025.
Thanks to covering 88% Rec.2020, the new panel approaches the color capabilities of QD-OLED TVs (90%), suggesting the use of miniLED RGB backlighting. However, TCL did not disclose details on this matter. In the meantime, the company showcased prototypes of LCD TVs with miniLED RGB backlighting during CES 2025.
TCL not only focuses on improving image quality but also on modern design. The new 'HVA Pro' panel features ultra-thin bezels, with a thickness of just 2.9 mm. The exception is the bottom edge, which remains slightly thicker, probably due to the placement of technical components. TCL has not yet confirmed in which specific TV models this technology will be used, but it is expected to appear in higher premium series.
One of the key aspects of the new panel is its ability to reduce reflections. A reflection rate of just 2% means that the screen should perform better in bright rooms, eliminating the mirror effect that is often problematic in LCD televisions. This could be a significant advantage in the context of competition with OLED technologies, which have been offering better properties in terms of black depth and contrast for years. Everything indicates that TCL is preparing to launch a model that has a chance to compete with the best screens currently available on the market.
