This year's The Game Awards 2024 is behind us. As always, it was an event full of emotions and memorable moments. The most important award of the evening – Game of the Year – went to Astro Bot, an exceptional platformer from Team Asobi. This production, available on PlayStation 5, proved that sometimes you don't need epic battles or vast open worlds to captivate players. What matters is heart, creativity, and attention to detail – and there is no shortage of those in Astro Bot.
There were also successes for the Polish gaming industry. Frostpunk 2, a work of 11 bit studios, won the title of best strategy game. It is a tribute to the vision and consistency that allow for telling stories of survival and difficult choices in such a moving and true way.
As every year, the gala was also an opportunity to look to the future. The most anticipated game? Grand Theft Auto VI, of course. A teaser was enough to spark excitement that has not faded for months. It is already known that Rockstar Games is planning something special – something that will not only raise the bar but also show how engaging games can be.
The Game Awards are not just awards. They are also a reminder of how much games affect our lives. For some, they are moments spent with friends, for others a way to relax, and for yet others – a form of art and narrative that we won't find anywhere else.
