End of sales of Sony home projectors in Europe
Sony has officially confirmed the suspension of sales of its video projectors in Europe, including the United Kingdom. The decision affects both models designed for home cinema and installation projectors. Sales will cease once current stock levels have been exhausted.
The reason for the decision is new legal regulations
In an official statement, Sony explains that the decision was influenced by changes in European export and trade regulations.
“To ensure compliance with applicable laws, including the latest European regulations on export control and trade restrictions, we have made the unavoidable decision to cease the sale of Sony projectors in Europe, once current stocks are sold out,” the company announced.
Sony emphasises that it remains committed to complying with the law and responsible business practices. Work is currently underway with trading partners to carry out the withdrawal process with minimal inconvenience to customers.
Sony projectors will remain available outside of Europe
Sony is withdrawing its projectors from Europe, but sales will continue in other regions of the world – at least until local regulations change. This decision could significantly impact the European projector market. Home cinema enthusiasts will now have to look for alternative solutions. Will Sony ever return to Europe? For now, the company is not revealing its plans.
