Aurzen is a brand that until recently, very few people had heard of. But at CES 2025, it caught the attention of many observers by presenting a device that can be summed up in one sentence: probably the smallest projector in the world. Now this exceptional model – Aurzen ZIP – is on sale.
Folded it looks like a Walkman, unfolded like the letter Z
ZIP is not just another copy of the Samsung Freestyle or the XGIMI projector. It is truly miniature equipment that, when folded, resembles an old Walkman or a compact power bank. Weighing only 280 grams, it easily fits in a pocket. When unfolded, it takes the shape of the letter “Z” – three connected panels correspond to optics (with the smallest DLP chipset in the world), sound (three slim 1W speakers), and power (a battery with a non-slip base). This is an original design that aims to maintain full mobility without the need for external tripods or heavy mounts.
Humble specifications, clever capabilities
Aurzen ZIP does not compete on specifications – the brightness is just 100 lumens, and the resolution is 720p, which means it’s best used in the evening or in dark rooms. The image range is up to about 80 inches, which is more than an average television but less than full-sized projectors.
However, it comes with plenty of features that enhance usability: automatic keystone correction, quick focus adjustment, and AirLink wireless image transfer from Android, iOS, and Windows devices. Interestingly, the ZIP can display images vertically, making it an ideal companion for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. Seriously – you can project vertical videos onto a tree stump or the inside of a tent. 😉
The 5000 mAh battery allows for about 1.5 hours of viewing – that's not much, but we remind you – this is a device the size of a foldable smartphone. Additionally, the projector can easily be connected to a power bank via USB-C.
Price and Availability
The device is already available in the USA for $399, and the gold version is currently offered on promotion for $379. The manufacturer announces that in a few weeks, ZIP will also be available in Europe, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Currently, it is in the preorder phase on the old continent.
This is equipment that won't amaze movie buffs looking for HDR and 4K, but for people who travel frequently, camp, or simply appreciate mobility – it may be perfect. Aurzen ZIP doesn’t promise a revolution in quality, but it does exactly what it should: allows you to watch movies and mobile content in unusual places, with complete freedom.
