Android 14 arrives on Chromecast with Google TV

Google has released the Android 14 update for Chromecast with Google TV, fulfilling its earlier promises. This is the second major system update since the device launched in 2020.

Key changes in Android 14 for Chromecast

The latest version of the system brings several significant improvements, including:

However, not all features of Android 14 known from TVs will make it to Chromecast. For example, energy-saving modes and the picture-in-picture option will remain available only on full-fledged TVs.

What about the next updates?

Devices based on Google TV will not receive updates to Android 15. Google has decided to switch to a two-year update cycle, so the next version for these devices will be Android 16, which is currently in beta testing.
