Endless Pop-Up on Samsung TVs? Here’s How to Get Rid of It

Is your Samsung television bombarding you with privacy policy messages? You are not alone. More and more users are reporting that the annoying pop-up regarding user data collection appears on the screen regularly – sometimes even every few hours. What’s worse, there is no obvious option in the television settings to turn it off. Is there a solution? We checked it out!

What’s up with this message?

Samsung, like most smart device manufacturers, requires acceptance of the privacy policy before users can access all features of the television. The problem is that some models, such as Samsung S90C and QN90B, display the notification repeatedly, offering no respite to the user. A ringing “ding” every few hours? That doesn’t sound like something we want to deal with during a movie screening.

Does Samsung have a solution?

One user contacted Samsung's technical support and was told that... there is no solution. However, that hasn’t stopped other users from looking for their own methods.

Two ways to deal with the problem

Fortunately, two effective methods have been found to combat the intrusive pop-up. The first one is incredibly simple:

  1. Log in to your Samsung account on the website

  2. Go to the privacy policy section and check for updates

  3. Accept the terms

For many users, this method works and the message does not appear anymore.

If, however, this does not solve the problem, there is a second option – more radical but effective:

  • Block the TV's access to the internet. Users report that disconnecting the TV from the network (while maintaining access to the local network) completely eliminates the pop-up. Of course, this has its downsides – streaming applications stop working, so this solution is best suited for those who use standard television.

Is it the update's fault?

Considering that the message appears in a loop on many televisions, it seems that the problem may be related to a software error. Samsung has officially acknowledged that it is investigating the matter, but as of the time of publication, it has not provided a specific solution. Will the upcoming update fix this problem? Let's hope so.

If your Samsung TV is bothering you with constant privacy policy notifications, try logging into your Samsung account and checking for updates, or – if necessary – disconnect the TV from the internet. While waiting for an official solution from Samsung, these methods should allow you to use the TV.
