Disney+ announced support for HDR10+. This is great news for Samsung TV owners that do not support Dolby Vision. This move shows that HDR10+ is gaining increasing recognition in streaming and gaming. More and more platforms and hardware manufacturers are opting for this format.
The popularity of HDR10+ largely stems from the lack of licensing fees. This attracts companies like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+. At CES 2025, new applications of HDR10+ were showcased, for instance in Electronic Arts games and Panasonic's onboard systems. As a result, HDR10+ is becoming a serious alternative to Dolby Vision, providing broad compatibility without additional costs.
Dolby Vision still remains the leader in the field of picture quality, but HDR10+ is steadily strengthening its position. Support from Disney will further reinforce this trend, giving viewers more choices!
