LG Display’s NEW OLED TECH is a GAME CHANGER! Huge Upgrade Coming Soon?

Calendar 3/7/2025

The OLED monitor market is growing dynamically, and manufacturers are competing to deliver increasingly better and brighter screens. According to information revealed by FlatpanelsHD, LG Display is preparing to introduce a new Primary RGB Tandem technology for computer monitors. First announced in January this year at CES, it is now set to reach PC users' desks.

New 27-inch OLED – more brightness, better colors

The first monitor equipped with this technology is expected to be a 27-inch OLED with a resolution of 2560x1440. The biggest change compared to previous generations will be a significant increase in brightness – according to LG Display, the new panel will achieve 1500 nits of peak brightness (1.5% window) and 335 nits in full screen.

But that's not the end of the news. Primary RGB Tandem is the fourth generation of OLED, which increases the panel's efficiency by 20% and improves color reproduction. While exact specifications have yet to be revealed, LG Display assures that the change will be noticeable. Moreover, there are speculations that the new 27-inch OLED could be the first monitor with a dual-mode, which would mean even greater flexibility in adapting the image to various applications.

OLEDs in Monitors Becoming More Popular

OLED monitors still account for a small percentage of the market, but their sales are growing rapidly. Just a few years ago, this technology was mainly reserved for televisions and professional reference displays. Today, more and more users – both gamers and professionals – are reaching for OLEDs due to their perfect blacks, lightning-fast response times, and excellent color reproduction. Manufacturers are noticing this trend. In recent years, 34-inch ultrawide OLEDs, 42-inch panels in televisions, and gaming models with high refresh rates have appeared.

When will we see the new panel?

Although LG Display has not officially announced a specific release date, it is known that the new panel is marked as a product for 2025. This means that before it hits the market, it must be adopted by monitor manufacturers such as LG Electronics, Asus, Dell, and MSI, etc. However, LG Display has confirmed that the Primary RGB Tandem will also be used in larger gaming OLEDs, suggesting that in the coming years we can expect a real offensive of this technology in the monitor market.

Is this a breakthrough in the world of OLEDs for PCs? Everything indicates that it is. And we will be monitoring further reports.
