LG invites you to the virtual stage - less trips, more creativity

Imagine that you can shoot an impressive scene with a view of the skyscrapers of New York in the morning, and in the afternoon move to the jungle – all without leaving one room. Sounds like a magic trick? For LG, it's just a new way of creating video content. The company has just launched its virtual production studio in New Jersey, whose heart is made up of large-format LED screens.

Screens instead of complicated decorations
Instead of building physical sets, LG relies on displays with very small pixels, which fill two walls and can show any background – from modern interiors to exotic landscapes. The camera operator can change the perspective in real time, and the displays and software respond to every lens movement, creating the illusion of real space.

What’s the point of it all?
Above all, to save time and money. There is no need to travel around the world to capture a unique view – just upload the appropriate scenery and turn on the system. This way, the film crew can focus on creating the story rather than logistics. Additionally, such technology is more environmentally friendly – less travel and waste of materials for decorations.

Collaboration with XR Leaders
LG is not working alone here: the manufacturer has invested in Mo-Sys, a company specializing in augmented reality and camera motion tracking. In practice, this translates to seamless integration of the displayed background with real props or people on set. As a result, it is hard to notice that the characters are not actually in an exotic location, but in a studio in the USA.

What next?
LG plans to use the new space for its own projects, but does not rule out collaboration with other companies. According to brand representatives, virtual production could soon become the standard in creating advertising spots, product presentations, or even smaller film productions. If this trend continues, in the future we will see fewer elaborate film sets and more modern studios filled with huge LED screens.

Virtual scenography sounds like something out of science fiction movies, but LG proves that it is very much our present. So if you are wondering where to get the perfect shot without spending a fortune – perhaps LG's solutions will be the answer.
