Philips Hue Sync finally on LG TVs - but there's a catch

The Philips Hue Sync app has made its way to LG's 2024 TVs, allowing Hue smart lighting to synchronize with the image on the screen. This makes movies, TV series and games even more immersive. Check out how Hue Sync works on LG, what models are compatible and why older TVs didn't receive support.

If you love playing with smart lighting, including Ambilight lighting, we have great news for you: the Philips Hue Sync app has just arrived on LG TVs from 2024. Previously, this app was only available on Samsung TVs, but now LG TV users can also enjoy synchronizing lights with what's happening on the screen.

Unfortunately, like any solution of this kind, it involves costs. The application is not free – purchasing it means an additional expense – a one-time payment or in the form of a subscription. Additionally, one has to consider the cost of original Philips Hue bulbs or lamps, which range from several hundred to even a few thousand zlotys.

Nevertheless, the application has a significant advantage over the already known device Philips Hue Sync Box – it can handle internal image sources, such as built-in applications, not just external signals delivered via HDMI cable.

How to connect Philips Hue smart lighting to an LG TV?

Unfortunately, there is one more catch. The application only appears on models from 2024 (and newer). If you own an older LG television and were hoping for an update, you'll be disappointed (at least for now). At this moment, there are no official announcements that Hue Sync will be available for previous models. If anything changes, we will definitely let you know! However, everything suggests that Philips TVs (TPV) will have greater competition in the coming years.
