TCL bends under pressure from Samsung - the end of NXT FRAME televisions

Not long ago, speculation arose about how the "frame affair" between Samsung and TCL would end. Let's recall: the Korean giant won in court the dispute over the television name, and we described the whole commotion in more detail in our previous article. It now turns out that TCL, in the shadow of all the commotion, has decided to withdraw the name NXT FRAME from its devices.

Behind the “frame affair”

The conflict ignited over the fact that the name of the NXT FRAME television allegedly infringed on Samsung's trademark. After a favorable ruling for the Korean conglomerate was announced, TCL was made well aware that further promotion and use of the disputed designation could bring additional problems. As a result, the company decided to make discreet changes to its offering.

Discreet name change in stores

In stores, TCL televisions that were previously sold as NXT FRAME began to appear as model A300 – NXT Vision. There was no major advertising campaign or official press statements accompanying this change. Simply put – from one day to the next, the previous name began to fade away, replaced by another to avoid further trouble. Interestingly, in some online stores, such as the euro.net network, the old designation can still be found in the product title, but it is probably just a matter of time before the changes take effect everywhere.

Will anything change in the television?

Even though the name is new, the television A300 – NXT Vision is supposed to offer the same picture quality and features as its counterpart before the "rebranding." From the users' perspective, the only visible difference will be the changed label on the box and in marketing materials.

Is this the definitive end of the dispute?

For now, it looks like the "frame scandal" is coming to an end, and TCL is quietly withdrawing from the name NXT FRAME to avoid further consequences. The whole situation demonstrates how dynamically the consumer electronics market is changing and how important rights to individual names and trademarks are. If there are any further reports on this matter, we will keep you updated.
