The Philips Hue Sync TV app, previously available only on Samsung TVs, is now also available on LG with webOS 24 or newer. This is another step in the competition between these giants, but the situation has one more, somewhat surprising aspect.
Philips Hue, although it shares the same name as Philips TV (TP Vision), is still not available on televisions of that brand. This is quite strange, considering that both companies operate under the same banner. Instead, LG and Samsung are taking over a feature that could seem like a natural addition for televisions with Ambilight TV.
What does the Philips Hue Sync TV app offer on LG TV?
Lighting synchronization with built-in apps like Netflix and YouTube.
Support for HDMI devices such as game consoles.
Support for Dolby Vision and 8K.
However, it is worth remembering that the Philips app on LG or Samsung Smart TV is not free. It costs about 400 PLN for a one-time purchase or 15 PLN per month for a subscription. While this is a cheaper solution than buying the Hue Sync Box, one must anticipate additional expenses in the form of extra lights.
