Samsung's new OLEDs for 2025: Databases reveal ‘F’ series sizes and numbers

Calendar 15 January 2025

The new year always brings a lot of exciting premieres in the television market, and Samsung is already generating huge emotions. The first leaks about the brand's OLEDs for 2025 have hit the internet, promising interesting changes in the offering. What screen sizes will we see and what do the numbers of the new series hide? In this article, we will take a look at the latest information that may spark interest in next year's purchases. Let's check what we already know about Samsung's plans for the upcoming months!

New Model Designations: Jump from "D" to "F"

Information from regulatory databases indicates changes in the designations of upcoming OLED televisions from Samsung for the year 2025. Models, instead of the letter "D" used in 2024 (e.g., S95D, S90D), have received the letter "F". It is not known why Samsung skipped the letter "E" in the naming. The new nomenclature includes the models S95F, S90F, and S85F. The changes in designations do not indicate specific technological innovations, but they are significant in the context of product identification and differentiation.

Sizes and Panels: QD-OLED, WOLED – Potential Changes in Strategy?

Revealed information allows for speculation about changes in Samsung's strategy regarding the panels used. In the case of the S85F model, there are assumptions about the possible use of QD-OLED panels, which would be a departure from this year's S85D model, which exclusively used WOLED panels from LG Display. The availability of the S85F in sizes 55, 65, 77, and 83 inches pertains to the US market, while only smaller variants are planned for Europe. Similar to last year, the S90F model will be available in a wide range of sizes, from 48 to 83 inches. It is anticipated that, as with the S90D, depending on the screen size, WOLED and QD-OLED panels will be used.

Flagship Model: Samsung S95F – New Size and Continuation of Tradition

The S95F model, as Samsung's flagship OLED TV for 2025, is set to be available in 55, 65, and 77-inch sizes. A novelty is the introduction of an 83-inch variant, which was not offered last year. This suggests the possibility of Samsung Display expanding the production of QD-OLED panels to larger sizes, previously limited to 77 inches. So far, S95D models have only used QD-OLED panels, so it can be assumed that this same practice will be maintained in the S95F series as well.

Unconfirmed Information: Waiting for CES 2025

The currently revealed information is based on unofficial sources. Detailed technical specifications, improvements regarding the image processor, or changes in design remain unknown. Official data about the new Samsung OLED televisions is expected to be presented at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. At that time, current speculations can be verified.
